About BreathBeats
The music meets your breath.
BreathBeats started with a simple frustration: every calming tool felt like homework. Counting apps, timers, boxes to trace — one more task for a brain that already had too many. Music never felt like that. So we asked a different question: what if the music did the work?
Press play, and the sound eases — a little slower, a little deeper — and your breathing drifts down with it. Turn the camera on and it goes further: your phone reads your breathing (right on the device — images never leave your phone) and the music meets your rhythm before gently leading it somewhere calmer. Nothing to wear, nothing to count, nothing to learn.
The idea underneath
Slow, even breathing — around six breaths a minute — is one of the best-studied ways the body settles itself; researchers have linked it to the "rest" side of the nervous system for decades (Lehrer & Gevirtz 2014; Russo et al. 2017; Zaccaro et al. 2018). Most tools make you do the pacing. We think the pacing should feel like listening to a song you love. That's the whole product: fifteen genres, plus Silence, all of them listening.
BreathBeats is a wellness app — not a medical device, and not a substitute for professional care. We're careful about that line, in the product and in every word we publish.
The team
BreathBeats is built by SHORESIDE LLC, with a simple working rule: nothing ships that we don't use ourselves. Every genre, every visual, every sentence gets lived with before it reaches you.
